I've requested a refund, why does the amount I paid for my membership look like it's been taken again in my bank?

Due to the new mandate where credits require a "credit authorisation" the credited funds are "held" in a pending state until the credit is processed. The refund amount is not removed from your account, but is waiting to be added instead. Since this mandate is fairly new, some of the mapping is confusing which is why it appears as a minus rather than addition. If you have any issues with this settling, please contact your card issuer.
