How do I create a new email account for a child or dependent to login to LFC?

Updated

Most online services that you log in to today need a unique email address for each account you want to create, and this is the same for new accounts created with LFC. (A unique email address means that email is not used on another account.)

If you are setting up a Ticketing or Membership account for a child or dependent that you are going to manage on their behalf, you can't use an email address you already use with LFC to create this account. Instead, you'll need to provide a new email address. If your child or dependent doesn't have one, you can create one and manage it on their behalf in a few quick steps:

  1. Choose your email account provider

  2. Decide on an email address

  3. Set up the account

  4. (Optional) Set up email forwarding from your dependent’s new email address to your main email address

1. Choose your email account provider

Many free email services are available. Here are links to some of the most popular, which you may already be familiar with:

Please note that Yahoo and AOL don't support email forwarding. This isn't a required feature for managing an LFC account, but some supporters may find it useful. You can read part 4 of this guide to check if it's something you will want to use before deciding which service to create an account with.

2. Decide on an email address

If you are creating an email address solely to manage online accounts for your dependent, you may want to create an address that is similar to your own, but includes a reference to your dependent.

Here are some suggestions that may help you pick a suitable email address to use.

Example 1
Joe Smith needs to create an email account for his daughter Emma.Joe’s own email address is
joesmithkop@gmail.comJoe creates the email address joesmithkop.emma@gmail.com for the account he will manage on his daughter’s behalf.

Example 2
Anna Turner needs to create an email account for her granddad Tommy, who doesn’t have one.Anna’s own email address is
annaturner1980@yahoo.comAnna creates the email address annaturner1980-tommylfc@yahoo.com for the account she will manage for her granddad.

3. Set up the account

If you already use the email service you’re setting up a new account on, you will need to log out of it while you create a new account.
After logging out, create the new account.
Create a new Gmail email address:

  1. Go to https://www.google.com/gmail/

  2. Click on the ‘Create an account’ button

  3. Follow the instructions to set up the account

Create a new Outlook email address:

  1. Go to https://outlook.live.com/

  2. Click on the ‘Create free account’ button

  3. Follow the instructions to set up the account

Create a new Yahoo email address:

  1. Go to https://mail.yahoo.com/

  2. Click on the ‘Create an account’ button

  3. Follow the instructions to set up the account

Create a new AOL email address:

  1. Go to https://mail.aol.co.uk/

  2. Click on the ‘Create an account’ button

  3. Follow the instructions to set up the account

Create a new iCloud email address:

  1. Go to https://appleid.apple.com/

  2. Click on the ‘Create Your Apple ID’ text (it’s in very small text at the top of the page)

  3. Follow the instructions to set up the account

If you do not see a ‘sign in/create account’ option when following the steps above, you have not signed out of your existing account. Look for a log out/sign out option.

4. (Optional) Set up email forwarding from your dependent’s email address to your own email address

If you are setting up an email address for a dependent who will not be regularly checking their emails, you may want to set up email forwarding to your email account.
Once you've set it up, a copy of any email received to your dependent's account will be automatically sent on to your personal email address, so you will never miss any communication from the club about your dependent’s ticket or account.
Most email providers support this feature and it’s usually simple to set up. The steps vary for each provider. We have included links below to the instructions for each:Gmail - https://support.google.com/mail/answer/10957?hl=en-GB#zippy= Outlookhttps://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/turn-on-automatic-forwarding-in-outlook-on-the-web-7f2670a1-7fff-4475-8a3c-5822d63b0c8eiCloud/Apple - https://support.apple.com/en-gb/guide/icloud/mm6b1a3960/icloud
